Content Guidelines

Updated June 16, 2026

1. Our Commitment

Tiv Television is committed to providing a platform that informs, entertains, and empowers the Tiv community and beyond. These guidelines maintain a safe, respectful, and culturally enriching environment for all viewers, users, and contributors, across our website, livestreams, and social channels.

2. Prohibited Content

The following is strictly prohibited on our platform and in any user or contributor submissions: Hate speech, discrimination, or incitement of violence against any individual or group Sexually explicit, obscene, or exploitative material Defamatory, fraudulent, or deliberately misleading content Content infringing the intellectual property rights of others Content glorifying illegal activity, terrorism, or armed conflict Any content that endangers, sexualises, or exploits minors — such content will be removed immediately and, where required, reported to relevant authorities

3. Cultural Respect

As a broadcaster rooted in Tiv culture and heritage, all content must treat Tiv traditions, language, chieftaincy institutions, and community values with accuracy and respect. Misrepresentation, mockery, or commercial exploitation of cultural identity or symbols will not be tolerated. Where content addresses other ethnic or religious communities within Benue State, the same standard of respect applies.

4. Editorial Standards

News and informational content must meet standards of accuracy, fairness, and impartiality consistent with recognised journalistic practice in Nigeria. We do not permit: Unverified claims presented as fact Misinformation or disinformation Sensationalist framing likely to mislead the public Content that compromises the safety or dignity of persons named or depicted We reserve the right to fact-check, edit, delay, or remove any submission that does not meet these standards, and to decline publication without obligation to explain editorial decisions.

5. Political and Civic Content

Tiv Television may cover governance, security, and civic accountability matters affecting Benue State. Such coverage will strive for balance and factual grounding. Content submitted by third parties on political or civic topics is subject to the same editorial review as all other submissions and does not necessarily reflect the views of Tiv Television.

6. User-Generated Content

By submitting content — including comments, videos, photos, or story tips — you grant Tiv Television a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, edit, and distribute that content in connection with our services. You represent that you own the content or have obtained all necessary rights and consents (including from any identifiable individuals featured), and that it does not violate any third party's rights.

7. Consequences of Violations

Content that violates these guidelines may be removed, edited, or blocked without notice. Repeat or serious violations may result in suspension of a contributor's or user's access to submission features, and, where the violation involves unlawful conduct, referral to appropriate authorities.

8. Reporting Violations

If you encounter content that violates these guidelines, please use the flag/report function where available, or contact us at info@tivtv.com. We aim to review and respond to reports within 48 hours.
